To Ride a Rising Storm, by Moniquil Blackgoose

In this second book of the Nampesheisit series, Anequs continues pursuing her romantic interests and studying how to be a dragoneer. At the same time she has to deal with politics of two angry parties, neither of which is perfect.

This was a great follow-up of “To Shape a Dragon’s breath.” All characters developed quite a bit from their beginnings in the first book. The world-building continued to be great. The cultural clashes were interesting. I did feel that the book started out slowly, as it focused quite a long time on angsty teen romance, and that’s not what I read books for. Overall, though, it was a fantastic followup.
